Kirsten Borgas


Southwest Regional Liaison

Kirsten is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety and a Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional (COHSProf) with over a decade of experience across mining, construction and heavy industry. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and an Advanced Diploma in Neuroscience of Leadership, combining technical expertise with behavioural science to design safer, smarter, and more inclusive workplaces.

Her work spans critical risk management, psychosocial hazards, safety culture and systems improvement, with a particular focus on embedding neuroscience into safety leadership, decision-making, risk perception and continuous improvement. Known for making safety more engaging, practical and brain-friendly, Kirsten brings a human lens to every layer of an organisation.

Living and working in regional Western Australia, Kirsten serves as the AIHS WA Branch’s Regional Southwest Liaison, ensuring local voices shape state-level strategy and planning.

A passionate advocate for neurodiversity and psychological safety, Kirsten draws on both professional and lived experience to influence inclusive WHS practice and policy. She is an active mentor through the AIHS and Southwest Leaders programs and is committed to advancing the profession through capability building, advocacy and science-informed innovation.

Kirsten is also self-taught in AI, automation and robotics, with a keen interest in how emerging technologies can improve health and safety outcomes. With a focus on ethical implementation and practical application, she sees technology not as a replacement for human judgement, but as a powerful tool to augment it
